A statement has been received from Foreign Minister Yair Lapid about an Israeli couple arrested for allegedly photographing the home of AKP President Erdogan.

Israeli N., who came to the restaurant section of the Çamlıca Tower in Üsküdar, Istanbul.O. and M.O. a married couple named and a friend of his were detained first for allegedly taking photos and videos of the AKP President Erdogan’s house here, and then arrested on charges of “political or military espionage” by the court where they were removed.

According to BBC Turkish, Israeli media claimed that the incident was not related to the photos taken from the Çamlıca Tower, but because the couple photographed the Dolmabahçe Palace on a boat trip.

“Their only crime was to photograph Erdogan’s palace during a boating trip,” the lawyer for the arrested couple, whose statements were quoted in the Haaretz newspaper, said.

Denying the claim that the couple worked for the state, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said he hoped that the detained couple would be visited by ministry officials in prison as soon as possible.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that both the family of the Vaknin couple and the Turkish authorities had been contacted.

It was learned that the arrested couple worked as bus drivers in Israel.
